Covid-19
Like many charities, COVID19 has had a huge impact on the way we work, in particular how we receive donations. Usually we accept preloved and new items at our storage in Maidenhead. To reduce the risk to our vounteers and core team, we are open only for collections by referral partners and are observing social distancing measures at all times.
But babies still need nappies, children grow out of shoes and newborns need to come home from hospitals in carseats. With extra pressures caused by Covid19, many more families are turning to us for help. And that’s where our Amazon Wishlist has proved invaluable!
We put out a plea to fill our nappy shelves and the parcels started rolling in. Deliveries were rerouted to co-founder Rebecca’s home and she started to panic each time a white van pulled up outside. The response from our incredible supporters was amazing and we have restocked with essentials several times over.
We also asked for items to put into activity packs, which would be given to families who had no access to a garden or who were in isolation. Books, colouring pencils and small toys have been donated. Thank you!
It’s a strange time for all of us, we are so used to relying on preloved donations but we ask you to please hang onto things you want to donate until the government restrictions are lifted. We’ll certainly be needing all those clothes, shoes and other items that your children have finished with.
Thanks again for all your support, it really means so much to us and the families we help.
